My Training
Philosophy
"My number one concern
with horses is that the human being on that horses back be as safe
as they can possibly be. One thing that I like in a horse is
predictability. I like knowing that under stressful conditions
the horse will react the same way most of the time. I am always
working toward a relaxed horse whom has trust and confidence in his
leader thru mutual respect. No animal on Gods' good earth has hurt man more
times then horses. That is why I believe in educating the
horse and instilling a good foundation where the horse understands
who his leader is, that he respects and trusts his leader, and thru
these first 3 things that we will establish with the horse we will
keep the horse emotionally under control, for when we are riding a
horse we are riding emotions. By keeping him in a relaxed
state thru leadership, respect and trust we are able to keep his
muscles fairly soft, thru his mind. So, by working thru
his mind we are going to control him emotionally. Now by
having him emotionally under control we can began to take physical
control. I teach the horse what yielding is, what flexion is,
and I ask for the horses impulsion. Now I can began
to take charge of him physically.
I believe that if
you control the horses head laterally and control the hind quarters,
your chances for success increase significantly. Therefor I
believe horses in a horse that is very supple laterally and
vertically, and understands what yielding the hind quarters is. I
believe in getting the horses impulsion when asked.
I believe in
creating thru education, real using horses for the real world. I
believe horses should be exposed to everything under God's good sky.
The more the horse sees and is exposed to, the less he will fear in
his world. The best advice that I can give to anyone is to educate
their horse and educate themselves in the manner that the horse has
been trained, so that they have an understanding of each other, and
that way they know how to communicate in the future with their
relationship. Everyone can benefit and every horse can benefit from my
training, no matter what the discipline. Thru my training methods
your horse will do everything better, because he will feel more
secure and confident with the world that he lives in, and thru
instinctive behavior and learned behavior he will learn to be your
willing partner and team player. I am always working toward a relaxed horse with
real utility. Chances are that a relaxed horse wont hurt you, but
the horse full of anxiety and afraid of his world will hurt
you"
